Dave VandenLangenberg, FamilyLife Pastor of Student Ministries, 920.593.3481
hometown: Green Bay, WI
family info: I am recently married to the wonderful and beautiful Anna VandenLangenberg! We have no kids and no pets and we are loving it (though one day I suspect we will love having both)!

How did you come to Community?
I came to Christ at Community as a high school student back in 2005. When I graduated high school I went to college down at UW-Madison where the Lord raised me in the faith and gave me a passion to reach college students. Upon my graduation in 2010, I sought a position at Community doing what I love full time, and he tricked the leadership here into thinking that it was a good idea!

What is your role at Community?
My role here is threefold. First, I seek to create a community of college students that love Christ in order to reach a community of students that don’t know Him. Secondly, I want to lead the multi-generational Church in caring about and for the college age people of our community, and vice-versa. And thirdly, I want to raise the vision of the global work of Christ and show how it begins in our own backyard, specifically with our school campuses and young people.

What is the best part about your role?
The best part of my role is that I get to spend all my time dreaming about the Lord’s work in our city. I am privileged with being on the front lines of seeing the kingdom grow, as it takes ground in people’s hearts and in the community.

Fun Stuff

If you were a color, what color would you be?  Why?
Charcoal, because it is the best color for pants as well as cars. Also it looks good with all the other colors, so I’d probably be invited to a lot of parties.

What do you count as the greatest invention of the last 100 years?
The internet. Right now I am listening to music, reading two blogs, facebook chatting, gmail chatting, youtubing, skypeing, tweeting, tumbling, beboing, and watching TV. While I write this. The internet is the best.

What is your favorite place on the earth?
My cubicle. Just kidding. The back porch of the student cabin at Timberline Lodge in Fraser, CO. It is not only my favorite place, but also the objectively correct answer for the question, “What is the best place on earth?”

What makes you laugh?
Funny voices and Bible jokes.

What makes you cry?
Seeing people I love fall in love with my Christ. And the movie Armageddon.

If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be?
American Idol! I don’t so much like the show, but it seems like the easiest way to get a chance to sing and play any music you want in front of an audience. Plus I’ve always wanted to meet Ellen DeGeneres.
