Pete App

Pete App, FamilyLife Pastor, 920.593.3478
hometown: Elgin, IL
family info: I’ve been married to Sheri for 19 years, and we have 3 children.  Jordyn is 17, Logan is 15 and Olivia is 12.  Ebony the dog is 42 in dog years.

How did you come to Community?
We drove here from the suburbs of Chicago in a U-Haul truck towing a 1983 Chevy Citation called the Pumpkin due to it being orange.  That was after I applied for the position of Youth Pastor and was actually (and thankfully) offered the job.

What is your role at Community?
As FamilyLife Pastor, I work with staff and volunteers to serve kids ages birth through 22 as well as their parents.

What is the best part about your role?
Seeing how God moves in the lives of individuals, families and our church family.

Fun Stuff

If you were a color, what color would you be?  Why?
I would be tan, because there is nothing quite like being tan after having spent the day at the beach.

What do you count as the greatest invention of the last 100 years?
The beach chair.  And electricity.

What is your favorite place on the earth?
The beach.

What makes you laugh?
Watching my kids play in the surf…at the beach.  And Steve Carell.  Oh, and Will Ferrell.  And my kids when they are doing something they really love.  And Sheri’s laugh when she really laughs that laugh she has when she’s really having a good time.  When you spend enough time with her, you get to know that laugh.

What makes you cry?
Leaving the beach.  And the pain of separation from relationship.

If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be?
A reality show that featured me and my family at the beach.  It would run every day for 10 seasons and I would invite all my friends and family to join me on my reality show.  And we’d all look terrific in our family-appropriate swimming suits.  And we’d be tan and sit on beach chairs.  With burgers that never would make us fat or increase my cholesterol levels.  That would be cool.
