Family Tree House Returns!
All your favorite characters are back, along with some new faces too, for the second season of GBCC's new family service, Family Tree House! With a music- and drama-driven format, Family Tree House is a fun, high-energy, interactive service designed for families to experience together. Family Tree House takes place in the auditorium between Sunday morning services from 9:45 – 10:15 and runs mid-September through mid-May (with the exception of holiday weekends: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter).
Family Tree House is designed to pull families together for shared worship, learning, and fun. Each month features a new virtue (such as patience, joy, courage) that dovetails with the KidsQuest curriculum that children experience in their classes. According to KidsQuest Director, Cindy Vandermause, "The idea is to draw families into what we're teaching in the classes and provide tools for the parents to make a deeper connection with their kids so that discussions can be continued at home," says Cindy. "What we do here at church is important, but the most important influence on children's spiritual lives is in the home, and we want to support that." Regular FTH attendee, Carrie Birr, has experienced this reality in her own family . . . "I love that I can bring my daughters there [FTH], and they do pay attention to the virtues. It works perfectly to talk about having patience or joy, etc. in our home."
Season one of Family Tree House was a great success, and we're hoping to attract even more families this year. We encourage you to make FTH a regular part of your Sunday morning experience at GBCC, and invite the family down the street to join you!
