Any ministry wishing to promote a church-sponsored event can reserve the Special Events Center in the church lobby. You must reserve the Special Events Center by emailing or calling the church office. You will be sharing the center with other ministries if yours is not the only request.
GBCC will provide a small sign at the Special Events Center for your ministry.
- You may decorate the Special Events Center in order to gain more notice for your cause.
- The Special Events Center must be manned at all services. There is nothing like a relationship and a personal invitation to encourage people to attend an event!
- Your ministry will get a "mention" during announcements (that you are at the Special Events Center and what you are promoting, no other details) as well as a notice in the weekly bulletin.
- All information displayed during the weekend services should be removed after the 10:30 a.m. service. If the Special Events Center is used for consecutive weekends, information should be stored inside the cupboard during the week.
- If you collect money for an event, please accept cash or checks for the exact amount only. After each service, all money and checks collected should be counted and put in a "Ministry Event" envelope (available at the safe in the Copy Room) and placed in the Drop Box.
Have fun with the Special Events Center! Are you having a golf outing? Bring in some golf clubs, perhaps a golf umbrella and some other golf accessories. Make the special Events Center SPECIAL and appealing to your target audience.
SMILE, be inviting, say hi, be prepared to hand out information, point people in the right direction, take names and phone numbers to call people back who have questions you might not be able to answer on the spot.
Be prepared to give people details of your event. Your event will be mentioned in the service, but it's up to you to provide details to interested parties. I recently heard that a ministry leader was in a quandary because he had many people standing in line to get information! WOW, what a great problem to have! Be sure you are prepared with printed information about your event as well as knowledgeable volunteers on hand to help out.
That's the time to put faces with names and start building relationships…and it's all about relationships!
