Verbal Announcements

A verbal announcement communicates event related information.  Verbal announcements during a GBCC weekend service are recognized as an important avenue of communication for specific church-wide initiatives, though not the primary avenue of communication. It is also vital to understand that the primary focus of the service is on worship and teaching.  Consequently, time given to announcements will be limited.  This policy was created to allow ministry leaders to understand the type of information appropriate for a verbal announcement and how to have that information communicated.

A verbal announcement is defined as information communicated verbally by the announcer during the weekend service.

  1. GBCC will only announce specific church-wide initiatives approved by the Resource Team.
  2. Verbal announcements will also be printed under the "Verbal Announcements" heading in the bulletin.
  3. Verbal announcements will be read for up to three weeks.
  4. The Resource Team will have final authority over verbal announcements and may edit the announcement.
  5. Announcements are subject to editing.

Ministries will complete a "GBCC Communication Request" form or email the announcement to the main office by Wednesday noon (12 p.m.) prior to the weekend that the information is to be communicated.
