Epic Sundays
Epic Sundays are a new addition to our high school ministry. Epic Sundays follow directly after the Sunday night service (Church is 6:00-7:30). These nights focus on discussions about difficult and challenging topics that can engage a wide range of students from skeptics to new believers to those strong in their faith. The atmosphere is relaxed, relational, and relevant. The goal of Epic Sundays is to 1) be the place where students invite friends; 2) create opportunities for deep thought, growth, and stretching and; 3) be a place that high school students can “own” as their own.
Sunday Night Church
Sunday Night Church is an opportunity for students to worship at a time they are more awake! It is our desire that students (and their families if possible) would attend the service at 6:00pm. We feel intergenerational worship is essential to students maintaining their faith as they transition into adulthood. The goal of Sunday Night Church is to have a place to worship within the larger church body, and to connect students to believers of other generations. Furthermore, it is our hope that Epic Sundays would be a catalyst for involvement in Sunday Night Church.
Along with these programs, we also offer a variety of serving opportunities, events, and other fun stuff. Some examples include our annual See You At the Pole Party (September), our Junior/Senior Retreat called “The Bridge” (November), and a summer service opportunity
The Future
One thing we have learned about youth ministry is that while we would all agree that the world students are growing up in today is different than any other generation before them, the rate of change in culture is faster than ever before. Our ministry models often reflect this as we have made frequent changes to adjust to the rapid change of youth culture. No doubt, this trend will continue. As students’ worlds change and as we adjust to those changes, our ministry model will continue to evolve. Please pray for us as we seek to create the best thing possible, and please be patient and gracious with changes. We feel it is simply the reality of youth ministry. We will do our best to communicate as the changes occur.
