Two members of our body have been affirmed as shepherd elders: Jason Potts and Steve Hoffman. Listed below are brief bios:

JASON POTTS BIO

Spouse’s name: Heather Potts

Year married: 2004

Children’s names and ages: Kaleb (15) and Samuel (12).

Occupation: Technology/Innovation Leader at Schneider

Hometown: Rochester, MI (Detroit area)

What year did you begin attending GBCC? December 2016

When did you accept Christ? Briefly describe the circumstances: Though I was an active member of a church and went to a Christian school through junior high, high school and college, I didn’t accept Christ until after I was married, in 2005. I had tried to live up to God’s standard in my own strength for 10 years before that point, and when I found myself falling again into the same sin patterns, I finally surrendered my life to Christ.

What energizes you about serving as a shepherd elder? Green Bay Community Church has played a huge role in my spiritual growth – we started attending at a time when I was struggling with doubt and uncertainty, and I have grown more over the past few years than any other time in my life. I am passionate about seeing others in our community experience that same growth.

Free-time activities: Playing music on a variety of string instruments, reading, kayaking, hiking, camping and playing video games with my sons.

STEVE HOFFMAN BIO

Spouse’s name: Kimberly Hoffman

Year married: 2005

Children’s names and ages: Will (14), Tara (9), Kylie (6)

Occupation: Estimator @ Spirit Construction Services Inc.

Hometown: Medford, WI

What year did you begin attending GBCC? 2013

When did you accept Christ? Briefly describe the circumstances:
I was at a Christian rock concert with my parents; I was roughly 13 years old. The band paused and invited people to come forward and commit. Until then, I thought we were all born into God’s flock. When I learned that we have to make a conscious choice to invite the Holy Spirit inside, I wasn’t going to miss out. I did not want to be left behind.

What energizes you about serving as a shepherd elder?
I’m excited for new conversations with new people. I have a feeling this will be a phase in my life that will quickly and emphatically expand my faith. I am excited, nervous and confident something new and irreversible will come of this. Let God’s will be done, and may God grant me the words and actions to broadcast His greatness, all while keeping me humble and thankful.

Free-time activities: Camping, hunting, fishing, family yard games, socializing, fixing things, building things, watching movies.
