God's stance on immigration

by Green Bay Community Church on October 28, 2020

What does God ask of his people when it comes to immigration? Pastor Troy  Murphy examined that question from a kingdom perspective in his message on Sunday, Oct. 25. Here are key points:

*God loves the foreigner, no matter how they got there.

*God commands us to love the foreigner. We should love immigrants, foreigners and refugees because as Christ followers we are called to display God's love.

*There are countless scriptures that address how Christ followers should treat immigrants:

Leviticus 19.34: The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord you God.

Deuteronomy 10.19: And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.

Deuteronomy 27.19: Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.

Psalm 146.9: The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow.

Romans 12.13: Contribute to the needs of the saints, extend hospitality to strangers.

Hebrews 13.2: Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
