Students meeting on Sunday mornings

by Mike Vandermause on August 30, 2018

Beginning September 9 students in grades 5 through 8 will have special programming called MSM-HD at 10 a.m. every Sunday in the Community Church Training Center, which is the room adjacent to the Care Center.

“It will be high energy but will focus on spiritual growth,” said Dave O’Vell, student ministry pastor.

Students can go directly to the Training Center instead of the regular 10 a.m. service in the auditorium on Sunday mornings.

"Our services are great but I think, especially for middle school age, having something more specific to their age group was a felt need,” Pastor Dave said. “It’s something that parents and students were looking for.”

Middle schools students in grades 5 through 8 will still meet on Wednesday evenings in the Training Center.

“Wednesday night is going to be more high energy than it’s been,” Pastor Dave said. “We’re not going to always have discussion groups as we did in the past. There will be more large group time, more activity time and it will be super easy for middle schools kids to invite their friends.”

Wednesdays will feature games, music, activities and prizes.

The Training Center has been remodeled and will serve the needs of students well, Pastor Dave said, compared to the former meeting place in the Arts Center.

“It’s going to feel warmer, and there are so many more options for us in there,” Dave said. The Training Center will feature upgraded technology, a portable stage and different seating options.

Dave said the goal is to help students take their next spiritual steps, with the ultimate goal of them becoming devoted followers of Christ.
