GBCC SUNDAY BREAKFAST FAQ
What changes are taking place on Sunday mornings at GBCC in the fall?
We will be offering a hot breakfast every week followed by one worship service at 9:30 am.
Why are these changes taking place?
We believe people desire more relationships and connection, and this transition will help meet those longings. We’ve heard many people at our church say they aren’t connected even after attending for years. Our goal is that every attender has the opportunity to make a connection each week.
What are the key times to keep in mind?
Doors will open at 8 am on Sundays. Breakfast will be served from 8:15 to 9 am in the auditorium. There will be a transition time between 9 and 9:30 and the worship service will run from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
When will this new schedule start?
Sunday, Sept. 12.
What if I'm a regular 8:15 am service attender? What should I do now?
We ask that you be part of this movement toward connection, plan to join us for breakfast and attend the 9:30 service. There will be opportunities to serve in a variety of ways on Sunday mornings and we ask that you get plugged in.
What if I'm a regular 10:00 am service attender? What should I do now?
Instead of having breakfast at home, we ask you to consider this great opportunity to connect with others and eat at church and then attend the 9:30 service. There will be opportunities to serve in a variety of ways on Sunday mornings and we ask that you dive in.
How can I get involved?
If you would like to volunteer please email your contact information to this address:
You can also make contributions toward the breakfast fund.
What’s on the breakfast menu?
Be prepared for some hot, delicious menu items like stuffed French toast, breakfast frittatas, pancakes and sausage. There will also be an alternating oat meal and yogurt station.
Will coffee still be available?
We will continue to offer free coffee on Sunday mornings, compliments of La Java.
How much will breakfast cost?
Breakfast is free. Donations will be accepted via cash, check or a text-to-give option.
Will breakfast be a kid friendly environment?
Absolutely. We want kids of all ages there, and high chairs will be available for the little ones. Many people grew up around a fellowship hall. We’re getting back to some of that old-school church culture, which is how GBCC started.
Is there child care during breakfast?
There is no nursery or childcare during breakfast. Kids can be dropped off at their classes at 9:10 am.
Can I invite someone to breakfast?
Yes! We’re hoping and challenging people to invite people to breakfast. You’re not just inviting people to a meal but to Green Bay Community Church, where they can take part in breakfast followed by worship music and biblical teaching.
Do I have to sign up for breakfast?
No. All you have to do is show up and bring your appetite.
Will the worship service still be shown online?
Yes. COVID helped us sharpen that tool. We want to make our worship service available to people who can’t make it in person. Pre-service hosts will go live at 9:20 am, 10 minutes prior to the start of the worship service.
How long will this new schedule be in effect?
This is the new Community Church direction for the coming season, and we will evaluate it after that.
Will we ever have two services again?
We’re hoping to grow and eventually offer two services. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. This is in God’s hands. Our biggest hope is that more people get connected at Community with our new Sunday morning schedule.
What if I volunteer in Children's Ministry and miss service?
Volunteers can be part of a serving rotation because there’s one children’s service. There is also the option to watch a recorded service online, which means you would never have to miss a service.
