The Care Center (located on the GBCC campus)
The Care Center exists to serve as an outreach to the needs of the surrounding community. Our services will focus on equipping, encouraging and stabilizing those who are in need. So many community agencies provide crisis services and are not able to provide ongoing support that focuses on moving households away from crisis, into stability and beyond to thriving. In order for this type of support to be introduced to our community, it will take a diverse skill set of hands and hearts knitted together to promote and provide effective programming. If this resonates with your heart, then please send an email to Jen Schmohe for more information:

Our 2nd annual 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Proceeds raised will benefit our upcoming Green Bay Feed My Starving Children MobilePack.
We are committed to addressing the needs of people in need by partnering with Feed My Starving Children to host a Mobile Pack in the Green Bay area. Children and adults hand-pack specifically formulated meals and ship them to the organizations on the ground doing the daily ministry with these kids. The Green Bay Mobile Pack is hosted at Community Church and is a collaboration of many churches and organizations in the area.
Our dates for the MobilePack this year will be October 2-5, 2017.
Holiday Store - December 12-14, 2017
We partner with The Giving Tree to create a Holiday Store for families in the Howard-Suamico School District as well as families we serve through our Care Center throughout the year. Our church as well as families in the school district take a suggested shopping list and purchase new items for the store. The collected donations allow families to shop in the store and pay for their gifts at greatly reduced prices, which restores dignity when they may feel some financial uncertainty.
The Holiday Store in 2016 helped 159 families including 413 children! In addition to the wonderful donations, our volunteers put in more than 1600 hours preparing for the store. Thank you everyone!
Store Dates for 2017: Tuesday, December 12, Wednesday, December 13 & Thursday, December 14 is our snow day.
Volunteer information will be available in November, 2017!
GO Boxes - November 12, 2017
Go Boxes will be available on Sunday, November 12, 2017. for families to pick up empty and return filled with items they have purchased from the shopping list provided. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to participate!
SIC Tutoring, a weekly structured tutoring program, hopes to be a major advocate for the education of at risk students in Green Bay. We believe that connecting caring adults with students will help children aspire, achieve and appreciate their potential in life. We partner with local elementary and middle schools by providing approved, trained, supported, reliable adults to be matched with the same student throughout the school year. Initial sign-ups begin in spring and required training will take place in early fall.

Child Sponsorship: Compassion International
The sponsorship of Haitian children through Compassion International serves as an advocacy ministry that releases kids from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty. Your tax-deductible contribution of just $38 a month connects your child with a loving, church-based Child Sponsorship Program. Your support provides food and water, medical care, education, life-skills and most importantly the message of Jesus Christ.
Child Sponsorship: Vapor Sports Hasmin’s Friends
A $59 per month sponsorship provides tuition, books, supplies and school uniforms for the most vulnerable children enrolled in a Vapor sports league in Haiti. The program provides each child with a nutritious meal every day, even when school is not in session. Vapor named its sponsorship program after their first sponsored child, Hasmin, in their Kenya center.
An open field behind Community Church is designated for a garden that is divided into small plots. We partner with the Brown County UW-Extension Community Gardens Program to find individuals and families who don’t have the land to grow their own fruits and vegetables and offer our garden plots as well as several others located around Brown County.
All garden information and sign-ups are administered through the Brown County UW-Extension website.
Garden signup begins April 5, 2017
