Day 34: Facilitating a worthy cause

Posted on

Our opportunity

Last year the Brown County Homeless and Housing Coalition used the Community Church facility to sort more than 25,000 hygiene items, which were valued at $56,000 and donated by a network of churches, employers, businesses and individuals. The items were distributed to the various homeless service providers and area shelters. This year the sorting will again take place in the GBCC gym on March 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Our direction

Proverbs 19:17— Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Our value

We support the Brown County Homeless and Housing Coalition’s mission to end homelessness in our area. We believe it’s important to make our facility available for an event like the hygiene drive, which directly impacts the day-to-day needs of the homeless in our area. The goal of the hygiene drive is to work with area homeless coalitions to stock the shelves of homeless and crisis programs in our area. The proposed Ripple Initiative Care Center on our campus will help meet some of the most pressing needs in our community.

Our prayer

Father, we pray that the homeless people in our area would find a place to live with a roof over their heads. Lay it on our hearts to step out of our comfort zone and help those who can’t afford housing or have found themselves in dire circumstances without some basic human needs. Bless the upcoming hygiene drive and may it generate support from area residents and businesses in an effort to bring comfort to the needy. Thank you for the many volunteers who contribute to the event. Allow us to continue to make our campus available for worthy causes like this.

Sign up for a Ripple information meeting scheduled on March 19.
