Bobby oversees programming for services and events. He also mentors worship team interns, occasionally teaches, and often leads worship in weekend services. He finds a lot satisfaction in watching people engaged in the genuine expression of worship. To him, it’s not about performance but about meeting people in the midst of their lives and struggles, then leading them in authentic worship. In addition to his pastoral position, he facilitates classes for Financial Peace University and helps with the marriage ministry.
Bobby grew up in Wheeling, IL. He remembers responding to an invitation to receive Christ in Sunday school when he was about five years old, and he became involved in music ministry while in high school. Later, he moved to Southern California where he earned a Masters of Arts in Christian Education from Azusa Pacific University. In 2005, he married Harper, and they have three sons (Joel, Ethan, and Zac) as well as a Boston terrier named Tia. The Coverstons moved to Wisconsin in 2009 when Bobby joined the GBCC staff. He enjoys basketball, biking, and sharing his music at local venues, and he admits that if he’s not at home or the office, you just might bump into him at Starbucks. He loves to travel (he’s been to six continents through various ministry opportunities), and he hopes to check out each of the continents more thoroughly someday. And when he gets to heaven, he says he’d like to be able to dunk a basketball.
