Positive changes

Pastor Troy Murphy asked this question during his message on Sunday, April 5, at Community Church:

WHAT POSITIVE CHANGE HAS HAPPENED IN YOUR LIFE DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC?

What follows is 100 of the responses we received via Facebook comments:

Family dinners, good conversations, connectedness.

More soaking in the presence of God.

I have found some ways to serve others.

Getting projects done that otherwise would not get done.

More precious family time.

Spending more time together as family.

FaceTime with friends and family.

I learned how to knit.

I get to have my son home from college.

Spending more time with my husband.

I’m cooking more.

Rest.

Family time. No work.

Practicing more gratitude.

Got some major deep cleaning & decluttering done.

More board game time with the kiddos.

Rest and creativity ideas.

Slowing down; no schedule to keep.

More time outside walking.

Neighbors are supporting each other.

Eating healthier.

Witnessing and praying for more people online over social media.

Focusing my attention on the things I can control and change.

Learning new games.

Praying for people more intently.

Spending more time as a family.

We have family game night often.

Take walks in the woods as a family.

We pray more for others.

More sit-down dinners.

Puzzles are cool again.

Freed me from looking at a calendar every day.

Un-rushed and dedicated daily bible reading.

Finally painting a bedroom.

We’re building a new swing set.

Beautifying the backyard.

More time with my kids.

Enjoy nature.

Dinner together as a family every night.

More time in prayer.

Walks, outside hide and seek.

Seeing neighbors outside.

Slowing down and appreciating simple things more.

Appreciating loved ones more!

Slow cooking and taking time to spend cooking with the kids.

It’s made us stop and look at what we have; all the gifts God has provided us with (kids, family, animals, the beauty of the world).

Family time, baking (kids love it)!

Eating meals together every night.

Time to reach out to friends.

Family walks and a happy dog with all the company.

Not running every minute of the day.

Deeper dependence on God for things I can’t control.

Cooking for others.

Spending quality time with family.

Appreciating what we have and people even more.

Cooking more.

Having family all under the same roof more.

Taking more time for fitness.

Getting projects done.

Playing with the dog.

Going to church in sweats.

My hands are cleaner.

Virtual birthday party with family.

Less rushing around.

Focus on what’s truly important…a tender heart…leaning on the Lord.

Slowing down!

Spending time in worship outdoors.

People are forced to spend time with family.

Walks with my husband.

I am learning to be still.

Slowing down has been great for us.

True pure quality family time and turning our eyes more on our faith whole heartedly.

Way more game nights.

A focused attention to reach out to others.

Learned how to use Zoom.

The extra time to dig further in God’s word.

My roommate and I never interacted before this, and I felt super alone at home. We’re now spending a lot of time together, she is beginning to watch different devotions and church times with me, and the atmosphere in our house has never been happier!

More time to pray.

A lot more phone calls and connects with people I don’t talk to often enough.

Reading a lot more of the Bible.

Leaning on God for comfort and to displace my depression and anxiety.

Family dinners and great discussions.

Reading the bible more.

Time to be creative.

I have made more calls to family members and out-of-state friends.

Love the slower pace with tons more time to connect with family and God. What a gift it’s been.

Catching up with folks I haven’t talked to in a while, and more time to pack boxes for a move.

Zooming with family as a group. It’s kinda fun to be together as a group.

Understanding more of God’s word.

My 8-year-old said: “I feel stronger with my faith.”

We are seeing what we are truly made of as a city/community and a church body.

More walks in nature, seeing God’s glorious creation.

Calling more people and laughing.

Reading and studying God’s word even more.

Made a wonderful new friend.

God has forced the focus away from stuff to substance.

Bible journaling time with my girls.

FaceTime with people I’ve never thought to do that with before.

Learning how to play Cribbage.

Realizing how important family and friends are.
