Day 23: Giving comfort to the grieving

Posted on

Our opportunity

We facilitate Grief Care groups for those grieving the death of a loved one. This group is led by people who have experienced loss and understand the pain that is involved. Approximately 20 people participated in 2014. There are 13 sessions that include a DVD presentation and small group discussion.

Our direction

Matthew 11:28-29 — Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Our value

At Community Church we know that some people in our area have faced great loss and sadness through death in close relationships.  This may be children and adults.  We want to support those who have suffered loss by sharing a meal, fellowship and the strength that comes from studying God’s word together in shared experience. The whole idea behind the Ripple Initiative is to extend loving arms to those in need in our community through as many different avenues as our resources provide.

Our prayer

Lord, today you know who is struggling with grief and sadness.  Please be a comforter today. Please give them the courage to face this day with You by their side. We lift up the Grief Care program to you. Thank you for these precious children and adults. Please bring strength, understanding and peace today.
