Day 25: Encouraging moms of young children

Posted on

Our opportunity

Community Church has been registered with MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) for the past 10 years. This group meets at our campus twice a month, and childcare is provided by GBCC staff while the moms socialize. During the winter months the leaders organize play dates in the gym for the preschoolers. Every other month the women do Mom's Night Out, where they gather in the community to enjoy a family oriented event together.  Several MOPS moms have come forward to be baptized at our services over the past two years.

Our direction

Proverbs 31:28 — Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.

Our value

MOPS offers a time for mothers to meet with other moms to talk, share, develop friendships and learn new things related to the home and family. While the moms are enjoying a warm meal and time with other moms, their children are involved in a program that includes supervised play time, Bible stories, music and craft classes. It’s important for moms to connect with women in the same stage of life. MOPS is for any mother of a child who is in kindergarten or younger. MOPS includes women from many churches in the area. The Ripple Initiative will  provide more space and opportunities for moms to gather together.

Our prayer

Father, we ask you to bless mothers of young children involved in the MOPs program. The demands on their time and energy are great. Please give them vitality and peace of mind, and meet their needs for friendship and encouragement. Bring forward mentor moms who can pour into younger women and provide wisdom through their life experiences.

Sign up for a Ripple information meeting scheduled on March 19.
