Day 31: Mentoring our youth

Posted on

Our opportunity

The Big Brothers / Big Sisters program has 12 matches that meet at Community Church on Tuesdays as part of the iConnect after-school program.

Our direction

Titus 2: 6-8 — Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.

Our value

Community Church’s partnership with Big Brothers / Big Sisters provides a unique time to develop positive mentor relationships, homework support and positive physical activities. The students and their “Bigs” enjoy playing ping pong, playing games, working on homework and sharing snacks. We appreciate that they have the space for these positive connections to take place. The Ripple Initiative will promote GBCC’s expanded involvement in lending a helping hand in our community.

Our prayer

God, thank you for the students and their mentors through Big Brothers / Big Sisters. Thank you that there is a safe place for these connections to be developed. We pray that more people would be interested in mentoring and supporting the youth in our community. Please bless the partnerships, and foster new connections. Thank you for modeling relationships for us, and open our eyes to those around us who need support today.
