Day 33: Eating dinner together

Posted on

Our opportunity

About 200 people involved in Tuesday and Wednesday ministries at Community Church are served dinner in the gym by our volunteer staff. The kitchen staff goes through about 70 pounds of meat per week and 11 pans of dessert bars, and on taco nights about 200 soft shells are served. After dinner, adults get involved in a variety of classes or care groups, and children take part in Bible-based classes or our child-care program.

Our direction

Acts 2:42 — They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Our value

Sharing a meal together is one of the best ways to connect, and we promote families and friends gathering together at GBCC for dinner prior to their church commitments on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Circular tables are arranged to promote relationship building. Meals are also provided for other events throughout the year, such as the men’s conference, Leadership Launch and the Global Leadership Summit. The Ripple Initiative will provide us with a bigger kitchen area to serve more people and accommodate larger gatherings.

Our prayer

God, we thank you that so many adults and children can gather together for dinner at GBCC in the middle of the week during the school year. We are grateful for our food service volunteers who devote their time to the needs of others. Thank you that Community Church is a place where families, friends and fellow church-goers can share life together and grow spiritually.
