Day 38: Uniting around Jesus

Our opportunity

Churches in the Green Bay area are working together for the cause of Christ. GBCC heads up a community-wide partnership with 21 churches that meet for quarterly pastors luncheons. In addition, five other churches partnered with Community Church to help put on the Global Leadership Summit last summer, and nine churches joined forces at GBCC last fall to help stage the Feed My Starving Children event. In recent years GBCC has lent out chapel space on Sundays to two different churches: the Spanish speaking House of Zion and Jacob’s Well.

Our direction

John 17: 20-23 — I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one — I in them and you in me — so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Our value

We are not in competition with other churches in the Green Bay area. Instead, we want to form an alliance with others that proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We support other churches because ultimately the Christian walk isn’t about us or how we operate, but it’s about honoring Him by how well we love others. We believe there is more power, authority and influence when believers are unified. We are willing to put our style differences aside so long as the name of Jesus is proclaimed. When we’re unified as believers, it shows the world there is power in worshipping the one true God together. The Ripple Initiative will provide more opportunities to partner with fellow believers around our city.

Our prayer

Father, we pray that pastors and church members in the Green Bay area would build each other up and not tear down. May the goal of Christ-centered churches be to complete each other and not compete against each other. In the midst of differences, may we unite around Christ and show the world what his love means. Help us as churches to hold each other accountable and encourage each other as we rely solely on God’s provision and lead in a way that honors Him.

Sign up for a Ripple information meeting scheduled on Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the GBCC Arts Center.
