Day 39: Nurturing children

Posted on

Our opportunity

In addition to Sunday morning children’s classes, Community Church offers care for children throughout the week. Not including walk-ins, a total of 94 children receive care from a staff of volunteers and paid leads for Tuesday Care Night, Wednesday Night Connect, Wednesday Women’s Bible Study and Thursday Moppets. Childcare is also provided for one-time events such as  Family Life conferences or Leadership Launch.

Our direction

Psalm 127:3-5 -- Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.

Our value

The GBCC nursery is a warm, nurturing environment designed for children from birth to age three. We consider each child a blessing from God and strive to provide a safe, loving environment for the youngest members of our church family. Each room is staffed with a paid childcare worker and volunteers who love children and are committed to sharing God's love with them. Fun activities, crafts, Bible stories and worship time are part of the curriculum to help children believe that God loves them. Providing quality childcare is important and a great benefit for parents who participate in church-related activities during the week. The Ripple Initiative will expand our children’s area and allow us to serve more kids.

Our prayer

God, thank you for the joy and blessing of children. It is a privilege to have so many opportunities to care for little ones at Community Church. Thank you for the many willing adults who get involved with our kids. May the childcare workers continue to display Christ’s love by the tender and heartfelt ways they interact with children. Give the parents who leave their kids with us a chance to grow spiritually through the classes they are able to take.

Sign up for a Ripple information meeting scheduled on Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the GBCC Arts Center.
