Doug Peterman

Doug is involved in maintenance and custodial tasks on the church campus and oversight of volunteers.

Doug grew up in Bonduel and says he attended church and participated in religion as a child but he knew he was running from God. Then one day, while driving his work truck, a radio program caught his attention, and the conviction that set in sparked a chain of events that led him to give his life to Christ. He and his wife, Shelly, began attending GBCC in 1988.

Doug and Shelly have been married since 1983 and have two children, Nikita and Amar. Doug owned and operated Doug’s Lawn Care before joining the GBCC staff in 2014.

"I felt like there was something else I needed to do with the rest of my professional life,” said Doug of his career change. "This opportunity came up during the height of me praying for what God would have me do."

Doug serves as an elder at GBCC and over the years has been involved in church ministries including Dessert Theatre and drama, small groups, teaching classes and VBS. He is an encourager and is passionate about helping people connect in small groups. His spare time is spent gardening and landscaping, enjoying his family, and daydreaming about golfing and fishing.

Doug and his family recently traveled to India and visited the orphanage where his adopted children lived. “We had a wonderful experience. … meeting the Christian woman responsible for our two children being part of our family,” he said. “We got a deeper insight into how that (adoption process) all happened."

Doug said he is learning to be content and find joy in little things. He enjoys working together with the GBCC staff.  “We all have a common goal and desire that goes beyond buildings and grounds,” he said.
