Marriage Matters

“To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God.” - Tim Keller

Marriage Matters is a weekly meeting for married couples of any age and any season of marriage.  It’s designed to give you the time, space and context to strengthen their marriage. Childcare is available through our children's department (see sign up below). Couples can join at any time, but it is encouraged to commit to a series of  content that can last approximately 5 weeks. Content will be a curated collection of experts on a variety of topics to dive into the areas that couples need the most.

Marriage Matters will also have social gathering opportunities (dates TBD)  for you to connect with your spouse and other local couples that believe in and support the power of marriage. We will also be offering extended retreats each year for couples to engage on a deeper level with each other.

This group will meet on Wednesday evenings @ Green Bay Community Church, in the main office. The group time will be from 6-7:30pm. April 3 - May 8, 2024, Marriage Matters will be working through Practicing the Way curriculum. More information HERE

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the program start and end?
There are no specific start or end dates.  Couples are able to join into the program at any time and will continuously be invited to participate in the various activities planned by the marriage team.  The program is built to allow participants the flexibility to join, pause and join again at any time.

Does this program include a licensed counselor?
At this time, there is not a licensed counselor on staff at GBCC.  We highly encourage couples to find a marriage counselor, but some people will find it difficult financially.  Our goal is to provide the community support and knowledge, but most importantly the time, space and context for healthy conversation between husband and wife.  If you are seeking a licensed counselor, please reach out to the GBCC staff for a list of known counselors in the area.

Are there costs to the program?
The heart of the program entails weekly meetings, checkins, and ongoing communication with the marriage team.  These are all available at no cost to the participants.  There are other events/activities opportunities that will include a cost such as overnight retreats.  There are no requirements to participate in activities that have a cost associated with the activity.

Do I need to talk about my marriage to the group?
No.  While we welcome open and honest dialogue within the group, the goal of these meetings is for you to connect with your spouse.  Time will be reserved for communication between couples and group sharing is welcome but not necessary.

Can I attend if I’m not a member of the church? If I’m not a believer in Christ.
Yes, we invite all to attend.  The information is valuable to believers and non believers alike.
