We are collecting NEW hygiene and cleaning items for local crisis agencies through The Family Radio’s annual “Help for the Homeless” Hygiene Drive, Feb. 12 – March 5. The Giving Tree pantry, housed at GBCC, is a recipient of this drive. Please place your donations in the Help for the Homeless collection box located in the West Lobby by March 5. You can make a financial donation for the purchase of supplies for our community using this link. Supplying these items to local organizations will help them direct their limited funds to providing qualified staff, counseling, food and shelter to those they serve. Learn more about the drive here.

Most urgently needed items are laundry soap, kitchen size trash bags, shampoo, cleaning supplies, diapers, toilet tissue, and feminine care. All donations will remain in this community!

A few stories to share:

“As a new single mom, receiving occasional care packages of diapers, laundry soap and shampoo has lifted a major worry and financial burden off my shoulders. No longer afraid of how I am going to afford necessities, I’m now able to focus on my college classes and caring for my daughter.” - Salvation Army Client

“It’s so true that when we look good, we feel good! I’ve seen people completely transformed by shampoo, toothpaste, and laundry detergent. Clean clothes and a well-groomed appearance can really boost a person’s confidence level and help on their journey to self-sufficiency.” - Liz Krumwiede, Community Engagement Coordinator, House of Hope

He had nothing. We were able to give him clothing, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, and a hot lunch. He wanted to be prepared for job searching the next day. He was so happy, but most of all thankful – the tears in his eyes said it all, along with his very emotional ‘thank you.’” – The Salvation Army

“Seeing the look of gratitude on parents faces when I hand them laundry detergent and toilet paper. and the eyes of a child light up as they get their own new toothbrush is the beautiful piece of knowing our community is wrapping these most vulnerable families up with care and kindness.” – School Social Worker
